Capture

An analyst photographs the plate with the Mira app on any iPhone. The phone captures the image; it does no counting. No imaging hardware, no IT setup.

Interpret

Our proprietary vision model analyzes the image and returns a CFU count and interpretation against your spec in under ten seconds, with the original plate image attached to the record.

Confirm

Mira is not FDA-cleared and is not marketed for clinical diagnostic use. Our current validation work is in food, environmental and other regulated testing labs. Clinical is the platform's roadmap.

Co-Founder & CEO, Mira Science | MS, RDN

For 15 years, Jill has been obsessed with a single problem: microbial safety and intelligence should work together, not be siloed. Jill started in the food industry building a cold-pressed juice brand, then pivoted into high-value agriculture to solve the lack of health standards in an emerging market. At Willow Industries, she developed patented ozone-based decontamination technology that scaled across the US and international markets, proving that regulated microbiology markets reward precision and trust.

While scaling Willow, Jill kept seeing the same bottleneck everywhere: labs worldwide, whether in food safety, agriculture or environmental testing, spend enormous amounts of skilled time on manual colony counting. Two technicians counting the same plate will disagree. Testing volumes are rising across every vertical, but the reading process has not meaningfully changed in over a century. The bottleneck is real, the problem is universal, and it is ripe for disruption.

In 2024, Jill co-founded Mira Science to solve this exact problem. Working with a team of AI software engineers, they built the Mira platform and mobile app to help lab technicians embrace a very novel use of AI and modernize a process that has not fundamentally changed in over a century.
